Time loss is a headmate's felt sense that time has elapsed that they were not present to experience.

In the case of a blackout it is very literal: the headmate who has lost time actually did not experience the content of the lost time in any way, and may feel as if they've jumped from its beginning straight to its end with nothing in-between.

However, this is not the only kind of time loss there is. Some headmates also experience milder dissociation or grayouts as a kind of time loss, where the passage of time is consciously experienced, but has been stretched, compressed, blended together, or lost meaning. Sometimes time loss is retroactive: a headmate may feel only after the fact that the time they spent was somehow taken away from them.
