| Type of term | Possible function of a system |

| Synonyms or near-synonyms | Blending, blurring, dissociation, memory sharing, switching |
| Antonyms or near-antonyms | Blackout, partitionary |
A grayout, or greyout, is essentially a much less severe form of a blackout, so mitigated by a grace period between fronters. Memory sharing has time to occur, but it is still a switch, and some details do not make the jump. A grayout can feel like losing your train of thought, or being pushed away from it as if to protect you, or something being on the tip of your tongue, or a sudden drastic mood swing where you also forget for a moment what you were just doing or where you were just going.
