This is a clothing store run by mannequins and frequented by mannequins.
If you walk through the sweaters hanging up on the clothes racks—as if they comprised a thicket, or perhaps a curtain—then you might come out on the other side somewhere other than where you thought you were supposed to be. Your mom might be missing. You might mistake a stranger for her.
You might even end up wandering into the meat locker.
