Internal communication refers to any deliberate metacognitive method by which different headmates in a system communicate with each other entirely within the body's greater collective mind without requiring an external medium. An example of one possible way it could work might be that the sender thinks a conscious and intentional thought which is mentally labelled for receipt specifically by the intended recipient, and the recipient experiences this thought as a cognitive intrusion heard in the grammatical second person—but this is not the only possible approach. Different systems have different approaches, and some have none at all.
