A facade is a headmate who exists to pretend to be a different headmate, or in some cases to conceal an entire subsystem by presenting to the rest of the system as a gestalt of the subsystem's attributes.
When used unqualified, the term typically applies to the facade of the entire system, who is presented to the outside world to maintain the guise of a singlet. This outermost facade is usually, but occasionally not, the host. If a system identifies as having a single outermost facade, it normally suggests this host is not the core nor original (and/or the system does not have a core or original).
