A side system is a self-contained grouping of [[headmate|headmates]] in a greater [[system]]. It is the same thing or nearly the same thing as a [[side system]], except possibly with the connotation that subsystems are hierarchal descendants of each other (or of the greater system) as opposed to being hierarchal siblings(?)
