A protector is a [[headmate]] who protects the [[system]], or other more vulnerable headmates within the system, from internal and/or external threats. This protection might for example be accomplished overtly by providing a felt sense of a source of self-love or inner strength, or covertly by maintaining [[partitionary|partitions]] to hide vulnerable headmates away from [[persecutor|persecutors]] and/or the [[host]].
