A facade is a [[headmate]] who exists to pretend to be a different headmate, or in some cases to conceal an entire [[subsystem]] by presenting to the rest of the system as a [[gestalt]] of the subsystem's attributes.

When used unqualified, the term typically applies to the facade of the entire [[system]], who is presented to the outside world to maintain the guise of a [[singlet]]. This outermost facade is usually, but occasionally not, the [[host]]. If a system identifies as having a single outermost facade, it normally suggests this host is //not// the [[core]] nor [[original]] (and/or the system does not have a core or original).
